Heirloom

Some gifts are worn for a season; these are worn for a lifetime, then handed on. Each piece in the Heirloom collection is crafted in solid 14-karat gold, chosen for the weight of it in the hand and the way it keeps its shine through years of everyday wear. A cross pendant, a pair of hoops, a medal, a child's first bracelet: quiet pieces to mark a baptism, a confirmation, a wedding, a birth. We keep only eight of them, because an heirloom should be chosen carefully rather than quickly. The idea is an old one, from the Proverb about a good man leaving an inheritance to his children's children, and from the passage that asks a household to keep these words in front of them. Wear one now. Give it later, when there is someone to give it to.
